Studying The High-Energy Universe

There’s a telescope in Antarctica that takes science to the extreme. Housed at the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, this telescope sniffs out the strangest particles in the universe, called neutrinos. Neutrinos are some of the lightest subatomic particles in existence. They skip across galaxies, from one end to the next, at nearly the speed of light. More importantly, neutrinos come with different energies and it’s the highest-energy neutrinos that interests IceCube scientists. We collaborated with Business Insider to produce this custom infographic that tells the story of this miraculous feat of human engineering and ingenuity.
