Beyond the Beat is an interactive storytelling site focused on black musicians whose meaningful contributions to modern music have been either forgotten or categorically ignored by most history books. When played along with the music, the slideshow format provides users with an intuitive, sequential approach to learning more about each artist that generates a more immersive and contextual content experience.

Just as music is ever-evolving, so will this interactive site, as we continue to expand it to tell additional stories of other unheard, obscure, and forgotten black artists.
